Among the causes of deaths stands the limited government budget devoted to public health and especially the children, says the report submitted by Amukoye Evans, a researcher at IIMK

An estimated 100 children die of pneumonia every 24 hours in Kenya , said Friday a scientific institution quoted by local media.

That scourge harms to 20 percent of infants in five years , higher than that of those affected by malaria, AIDS and measles combined, according to a study by the Institute for Medical Research in Kenya (IIMK).

Among the causes of deaths stands the limited government budget devoted to public health and especially the children, says the report submitted by Amukoye Evans, a researcher at IIMK.

Less than 30 percent of children with pneumonia are treated with appropriate drugs , although there are plenty of vaccines, drugs and treatments that can save them from the disease, the research adds.

The funds allocated by the state health represent only 4.6 percent of Kenya's GDP, down from 5.5 percent on average they spend other African nations.
