Speaking during the press conference to update data on the covid-19 in the country, Rosa Marlene said that the positive case recorded from Saturday to Sunday is that of a worker at Total oil, aged between 25 and 35 years.

The company became the center of covid-19 in Mozambique a few weeks ago, following the detection of several at the oil company's facilities in Afungi, Cabo Delgado province, northern Mozambique.

The national director of public health said the authorities had tested 129 people for covid-19 in the past 24 hours and only one was positive.

In total, 2,446 samples have been tested since the pandemic was declared on 11 March.

From Saturday to today, Mozambique recorded another recovered case, increasing the number of people in this situation to 19.

Of the total number of infected, since the registration of the first case in Mozambique, announced on March 22, 72 are of local transmission and eight are imported.

1,009 cases are in the home quarantine, out of a total of 12 thousand people who have already been in this situation.

More than 576,000 people have already been screened in Mozambique.

The number of covid-19 deaths in Africa has risen to 1,754 in the past few hours, with more than 42,000 cases of the disease reported in 53 countries, according to the latest statistics on the pandemic in that continent.

Globally, according to a report by the AFP news agency, the covid-19 pandemic has already claimed more than 243,000 deaths and infected more than 3.4 million people in 195 countries and territories.
