Covid-19: one new case, 21 active cases
    By The Editors
    26 Apr 2020 17:48 2

The number of positive cases recorded in Mauritius has now increased to 332. This is apparent from the latest press release issued by the National Communication Committee on the Covid-19, Sunday April 26. The main information: a new case has been identified.

The total number of tests carried out so far is 14,445. These should be carried out much more frequently once the deconfinement plan has been launched, particularly with the rapid tests.

The total number of people healed from Covid-19 is 299. This means that the country now has only 21 active cases compared to 24 cases yesterday.

On the other hand, the passengers from the flight from Paris, which landed on Sunday, were all placed in quarantine, for a total of 29.

Worldwide, the number of positive cases stands at 2,923,336, with 203,308 deaths. It should be noted that in Mauritius, the number of deaths is 9.

There will therefore be no deconfinement on May 4 in Mauritius. The decision to extend the confinement period by 15 days was validated Thursday evening by the Council of Ministers.

The Mauritian government fears a resurgence of the Covid-19 pandemic. Sister Island currently has 332 Covid-19 positive cases, including ten deaths. 310 patients were cured of the coronavirus.

The sanitary curfew is extended until June 1 to avoid a second wave of contamination. A first reopening phase is planned from May 15 to allow the gradual resumption of economic activities. Schools will remain closed until August 1.

Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth announced all of these measures late Friday afternoon:
