    Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Thursday, April 2, announced that 29 new people had tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 110.

    Speaking outside Afya House in a daily Covid-19 press briefing, CS Kagwe also revealed that 2 patients had succumbed to the disease.

          Covid-19: Kenya's cases rise to 142
          Sunday April 5 2020

          The number of coronavirus cases in Kenya increased to 142 after 16 people tested positive on Sunday.

          Health Chief Administrative Secretary Mercy Mwangangi said the new patients include 15 Kenyans and one Nigerian.

          The government has directed families of patients who succumb to coronavirus to bury kin within 24 hours; mourners restricted to 15.

          The 16 cases were discovered after the ministry conducted tests on 530 samples. Nine of those who tested positive were from quarantine facilities, while sever were from contact tracing. Eleven patients had travel history while five were infected locally...

              Fourteen more patients have tested positive for the coronavirus in Kenya, raising the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 172.

              Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, in a press briefing on Tuesday, said the new cases include 14 Kenyans and two foreign nationals.

              He noted that four of the 14 cases have a recent history of travel from Tanzania, South Africa, UAE and the United States while 10 were picked by surveillance teams in the country..

                Seven more people have tested positive for Covid-19 as confirmed cases in the country hit 179.

                305 have been tested out of which seven tested positive, four female and three male who all Kenyans. Four of them have a history of travel; one from Congo, one United Kingdom and two United States of America.

                5278 samples been tested so far, the government is currently monitoring 578 people...

                  NAIROBI - Kenya's Health Ministry says a six-year-old child has died of coronavirus complications, becoming the youngest victim of the virus to die in Kenya. As of Friday, more than 120 people in Kenya have been confirmed to have COVID-19.

                  Mercy Mwangagi, the chief administrative secretary at Kenya's Ministry of Health, announced the death at a news conference Friday.

                  “I am saddened to inform you that we have lost another patient to the coronavirus disease. The person, a six-year-old male child, who was also ailing from other medical conditions and had been admitted to Kenyatta National Hospital. This now brings to four the number of those who have died as a result of this disease," Mwangagi said.

                  The Ministry of Health said some of the new cases were not imported but were the result of community transmission.
                  "The only security we have is our ability to adapt."

                      April 10: Cases reach 189, government gazettes regulations


                      Health Minister Mutahi Kagwe announced today that 5 more Kenyans have tested positive after analysis of 504 samples; Kenya’s number of cases now 189. He added that 10 more people to be discharged from Mbagathi hospital after testing negative: number of recoveries now 22.

                      Meanwhile, government has gazetted COVID-19 related regulations which include hefty penalties for persons caught flouting directives issued in line with the Public Health Act. The penalties range from a fine of Sh20,000 or a six months’ imprisonment or both.

                      A Kenya Gazette Supplement No. 41 signed by Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe indicated that some of the offences to be tracked are: failure to wear a mask while using public or private transport and failure to maintain social distance.

                      “Users of public or private transport and public transport operators shall wear a proper mask that must cover the person’s mouth and nose and also maintain a physical distance of not less than one metre.”

                      As per the new rules, organisations, business entities, traders whether in a market or enclosed premises are required to provide at their business location or entrance to their premises, a handwashing station with soap and water or an alcohol-based sanitiser which is approved for use by the Kenya Bureau of Standards
