      • A zone was established around the infected farm and samples were collected from all backyard and commercial poultry farms in a 4-km radius zone.
      • All samples tested were negative for avian influenza by different techniques (ELISA, PCR) in the Central Veterinary Laboratory in Tripoli.
      • Some evidence indicated that the source of infection might be illegal movement of live birds to the region.
      • Risk-based surveillance will be applied in the whole country for at least three months.
