    Dr. Soheir Kaawan, head of the Veterinarian Syndicate in Aswan and head of the Prevention Department at the Edfu Veterinary Department, confirmed today, Tuesday, that based on the Market Investigation Committee of the General Authority for Veterinary Services, which recently visited Aswan and took random samples from birds for examination in the Luxor laboratory to ensure that they are free of bird flu, The laboratory response came with the presence of positive samples of bird flu type H5N1 and H9N7 in poultry, the first is normal, such as that which affects humans and the second type is not harmful but affects the birds themselves, indicating that the rapid response team for the procedures of culling and disinfection was intervened in cooperation with the local unit Using disinfectants, and conducting site investigations about the emergence of symptoms and places where parents raise birds, in addition to conducting awareness campaigns in homes and markets about symptoms and awareness of not buying birds, as well as vaccination and continuous investigation of poultry in villages where the focus appeared.

    The head of the Veterinarians Syndicate added that a committee from the local unit and veterinary medicine will monitor the implementation of the Aswan governor’s decision to prevent the circulation of live birds in the Wednesday market in Edfu, in addition to conducting chlorination.

    And Major General Ashraf Attia, Governor of Aswan, had issued Decree No. 4 of 2021 banning the circulation and sale of live birds in the Wednesday market in Edfu, based on the Veterinary Medicine Memorandum in Aswan, due to suspicion of bird flu emerging in the Edfu market, and it is also prohibited to transfer them outside these places and close All stores that do not have a permit from the General Authority for Veterinary Services until further notice.
    The competent authorities from the Veterinary Medicine Department must take all legal measures and measures to regulate the circulation of live birds, and in the event of a violation, the assisting security authorities must implement the necessary legal procedures in this regard.
