Benin: the presence of avian influenza reported in Sèmè-Podji and Calavi

    By Cochimau S. Houngbadji the 25 August 2021 to 1:50 p.m.

In a press release dated Wednesday, August 25, 2021, the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Gaston Dossouhoui, confirmed the presence of avian flu in two localities in the country. The minister specifies in his press release that the analysis of the samples taken from the farm in Ouidah was negative. As of today, the virus has therefore not been declared in this town. “In such circumstances and according to international regulations, any suspicion of this disease must be immediately notified to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) and the confirmation or not of the biological diagnosis must be made by the reference laboratory of the same organization. Thus, on August 20, 2021, Benin notified OIE of the suspicion of highly pathogenic avian influenza in infected farms ” , specified the Minister.

Par un communiqué de presse en date du mercredi 25 août 2021, le ministre de l’agriculture, de l’élevage et de la pêche, Gaston Dossouhoui, a confirmé la
