Guinea is heading straight for the 3,000 COVID-19 positive cases. COVID-19: Guinea registers 262 new recoveries, 67 confirmed cases and 02 deaths on Tuesday

It is a bulletin of the day from the national health security agency which shows the strength of the nursing staff in the centers for the care of people suffering from coronavirus. A large number of healers who are now pushing to rub their hands.
In a press release from the ANSS, a copy of which reached us in the afternoon of Tuesday, Guinea records 67 new confirmed cases, 262 new healed and 02 deaths. This means that we can still hold on to the hope of finding a solution to COVID-19 with the ratio of cases healed these days soaring.
On the table of the day, the country has 1,525 healed, 2,863 confirmed cases and 27 deaths, including 16 in hospitals since the start of the pandemic.
For the new confirmed cases, it is indeed a batch of 530 people tested in the laboratory of which 67 were found positive for Coronavirus.
Guinea is sinking into the jails of the pandemic and has a record of Coronavirus patients in the sub-region. The concern is growing with the multiplication of figures linked to the Coronavirus pandemic in recent hours in the country.
But despite this multiplication of confirmed cases which gives rise to enough concern, we can still hold on to the hope of quickly overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic. This can be made possible thanks to the implication of all, by respecting the barrier gestures that open on the front line on hand washing and the wearing of masks.

COVID-19 in Guinea: Why is the Government delaying to materialize the response plan?

Since April 2, 2020, the Guinean government, through the Prime Minister, has sent a descriptive note to the President of the Republic concerning its response plan to COVID-19. A plan that revolves around three main axes including health, social, economic and financial, at a total cost of 3500 billion Guinean francs (360 million dollars). But what about the implementation of this response plan at a time when the Guinean populations are fully suffering the social and economic shock of this pandemic?

Regarding the first component of the plan, in particular the consolidation of the monitoring and management system, the only progress to note remains the expansion of reception capacities with the provision of 7 sites. With regard to strengthening the surveillance system both in Conakry and in the interior of the country, we are obliged to note that it still remains weak. As for care, it continues to be a problem. At least, if we stick to the recurring complaints that we have patients about, in particular the management of tests. Finally, the coordination which fell under this component is not satisfactory either. Otherwise, we would not yet be witnessing the dispersion of patient data between the various monitoring teams.

Under the social component of the response plan, it was planned that the National Agency for Economic and Social Inclusion (ANIES) integrate into its 2020 activity plan, emergency actions required to mitigate the consequences of the crisis with populations in precarious situations, in particular by deploying an appropriate inclusion system for the poorest households. Except that we have no visibility on awareness-raising activities and the distribution of protection kits to 130,900 households for a total of 850,000 people. This activity was planned to start in April and there we tend towards the end of May, we have nothing in sight. As for the actions that were planned for the month of May, notably the deployment of labor-intensive activities (HIMO) in Conakry, the construction of boreholes to promote access to drinking water in rural areas, none neither announced on this day of May 20, 2020. What can we say about the so-called program of monetary transfers for 240,000 households or about 1.6 million people supposed to take place in June 2020? ANIES was also expected to provide food to households in the most affected geographic areas. But there it is rather the NGOs and the private entities which are active on this ground for the benefit of the poor citizens.

No need to approach the Economic and financial component.

It is therefore necessary that the Government, through the Prime Minister, speak again to explain to the public what is stuck about the implementation of the response plan to COVID-19. Because it should be noted, when the President of the Republic received the said plan from the hands of the Prime Minister, the country displayed 51 confirmed cases, one person healed, and 1000 cases contacts. While on May 19, 2020, a month and 18 days later, the table shows 2863 confirmed cases, 1525 cured, and unfortunately 18 official deaths in health facilities and at least 9 other loss of life within the community.
