    This ban follows the fact that the said meat carries health risks, according to correspondence from the European Union cited in the press release.

    In his ban measure, the Minister of Foreign Trade referred to the letter from the delegation of the European Union, referenced PK/PKA Ares (2024): 64590 of January 5, 2024, notifying the General Directorate of Food Health (RASF), relating to the notification alert system alert: 2023.8072 – salmonella enteritidis in poultry meat frozen from Poland via Netherlands of 06/12/2023, reporting the shipment to the Democratic Republic of Congo d 'a lot n°191/3/23 of frozen poultry meat.

    Given the health risks of this batch of meat, the minister gave instructions to the various Congolese state services concerned so that it is not consumed, marketed and withdrawn from the market.

    “Services operating at the borders are instructed to record any cargo containing these products,” the minister wrote.

    The relevant services were ordered to withdraw the said products from the market and destroy them in strict compliance with standards.

    The Secretaries General for Foreign Trade, National Economy, Agriculture and Public Health; the Commissioner General of the National Police; the Director General of the Congolese Control Office (OCC) as well as that of Customs and Excise, were requested, each as far as they were concerned, to implement these measures.
