Guinea: Ebola yet continues to claim victims ...

    Forecariah -...

After several weeks of calm, Ebola just bounced back in Kindoyah, a village in the prefecture of Forecariah. The death of a girl from Conakry caused a new outbreak of the epidemic.

At least 3 new cases and 333 contacts were recorded, according to the head of the response against Ebola in Forecariah, Dr Abdourahmane Batchily.

These three new confirmed cases included a pregnant woman who died this Tuesday, October 27th after her delivery at the Ebola treatment Center of Conakry.

According to Dr. Batchily, it is after the death of that ten year old girl from Dar Salam, that several members of one family were infected with the deadly virus.

"There was two children and a pregnant woman in Forecariah transported to Conakry Treatment Center and we also have a community death. Yesterday the pregnant woman died after delivery and her baby is declared positive, "said Dr. Batchily, reached by telephone from Forecariah Wednesday.

Guinea records three new cases of Ebola, brings total to nine

Three more people in Guinea have been infected with the Ebola virus, a senior health official said on Wednesday, further dampening hopes of an imminent end to the world's worst recorded outbreak of the disease.

The three were infected in Forecariah in western Guinea from the family of a woman who died of Ebola and whose body was handled without appropriate protection, said Fode Tass Sylla, spokesman for the national center for the fight against Ebola.

"In all, nine sick people are being treated at our centres throughout the country and most are connected to the dead woman," he told Reuters, adding that authorities had known of the three fresh cases since Saturday.
