10,000 anti-Ebola vaccine doses available in Guinea (Conakry)

    By Guinee7 - August 25, 2015

The Guinean National Coordinator of the response against the Ebola outbreak, Sakoba Keita, revealed on Monday the availability of 10,000 doses of vaccine that will be administered in the home stretch of the response against the disease.

Mr. Keita who spoke on the airwaves of state radio, said the number of cases of Ebola is as of today 10, with 5 confirmed. Cases are distributed between the capital and the prefecture of Forecariah, located along the Sierra Leone border. All contacts of these cases have been identified and will benefit from vaccines.

The fall in the number of cases is due to the strategy of "cerclage and micro-cerclage" used by the Guinean authorities and their health partners. The national coordinator of the response against the Ebola outbreak took advantage of his intervention to say that the virus could be eradicated in three weeks.

Since the beginning of the epidemic of Ebola, the registered global count is of 3334 confirmed cases, including 2075 deaths, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

"Safety and security don't just happen, they are the result of collective consensus and public investment. We owe our children, the most vulnerable citizens in our society, a life free of violence and fear."
