Tshopo: Precautionary measure taken after the registration of a suspected case of Ebola

    August 21, 2025

Kisangani, August 21, 2025 (ACP).- The 8th meeting of the Tshopo Province Council of Ministers examined the current epidemiological situation on Wednesday, marked by the registration of a case presenting symptoms compatible with the Ebola virus disease in Kisangani, in the northeast of the Democratic Republic of Congo, according to the minutes of this meeting consulted Thursday by the ACP.

" A case presenting symptoms compatible with the Ebola virus disease was recorded in the city of Kisangani. As a precautionary measure, all persons who had been in contact with this case were placed in quarantine ," read the minutes of the Council of Ministers.

During the meeting, the provincial Minister of Health, Dr. Nono Mangaza Binti Masudi, indicated that the province has recorded a significant decline in cholera and Mpox cases, which indicates a gradual improvement in the epidemiological situation.

However, the council stressed the need to maintain and strengthen response mechanisms to avoid any resurgence.

The continued efforts of Governor Paulin Lendongolia, as well as those of the health teams and partners involved, were highly praised by the council.

The provincial Minister of Health also presented to the council the "PROMIS 2" project on Family Planning and a Health System Infrastructure and Strengthening Project (HSSIP), developed in partnership with REDD+ and UNOPS.

Furthermore, Minister Mangaza Binti Masudi submitted to the council a file relating to the creation of a public utility establishment dedicated to technical and methodological support for mutual health insurance companies in the province.

The council gave its approval for the institutionalization of this structure, with a view to its integration into the provincial health system and its recognition as an establishment of methodological public utility to mutualist associations.
