Coronavirus in Ivory Coast: 118 cases confirmed within 24 hours
            by Kohan Kioshiko 06/06/2020

Covid-19 - In C?te d'Ivoire, as in several countries in the West African sub-region, the gradual deconfinement is causing concern among some given the explosion in the number of confirmed cases per day. For the first time, C?te d'Ivoire has just recorded 118 confirmed cases of ovid-19 out of more than 600 samples taken, said the ministry of health in a note. The isolation of Greater Abidjan was extended after a meeting between the President of the Republic and the National Security Council.

The new coronavirus pandemic in C?te d'Ivoire is gaining ground daily. For the past few days, the average number of confirmed cases per day has passed fifty or so contaminations. For the day of June 1, the ministry of health counted 118 cases of contaminations with Covid-19, on more than 600 samples taken. The country is therefore close to 3,000 confirmed cases, shortly after the easing of measures taken by the government in the fight against this pandemic. To date, there are only 33 deaths from the disease in C?te d'Ivoire, which is basically good news, if we compare the mortality rate in C?te d'Ivoire with that of certain countries in the sub-region such as Nigeria, Senegal or even Mali. With this daily increase in the number of cases, the isolation of Greater Abidjan, a situation which has serious economic consequences, is likely to continue in two weeks, unless the curve reverses.

"The Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene recorded today, Monday, June 1, 2020, 118 new cases of Covid-19 out of 611 samples taken, representing 19.3% of positive cases, 32 cured and 00 deaths. As of June 1, C?te d'Ivoire therefore had 2,951 confirmed cases, including 1,467 people recovered, 33 deaths and 1,451 active cases. The total number of samples is 27,650. It is therefore essential to incorporate barrier measures into our daily habits and to wear a mask when traveling, to protect ourselves and others. However, it should not be forgotten that the mask is only effective if it is combined with frequent hand washing with soap and water. In addition, before the appearance of signs such as: cough, fever and breathing difficulties, you are requested to urgently contact the following toll-free numbers: 101, 119, 125 and 143 or go to a reception and screening center, ”reports Health Minister Aka Aou?l? in his daily press release on the Covid-19 disease. About three weeks ago, the Ivory Coast began its gradual deconfinement with the lifting of restrictive measures inside the country, and then in Greater Abidjan. Although the curfew has been lifted, certain measures still remain in force, such as the closing of bars, or the isolation of the Ivorian economic capital. On the economic front, many operators denounce the continued isolation of the Ivorian economic capital.
            Totally deconfining Abidjan

"The isolation of Greater Abidjan has just become a political matter: how to tie the hands and feet of others, while allowing yourself the freedom to come and go. We are equal in front of the health of our relatives and parents: in the name of which, some are forbidden to go and collect their sick parents for medical evacuation in Abidjan, while others are allowed to go to do political activities in the cities of the inside the country, when they are not subjected to any preliminary screening test? These situations of contemptuous injustice must be stopped in this country! I ask President Ouattara for the outright lifting of these isolation measures in Abidjan, which ultimately only serve to create two categories of citizens and enrich the corrupt. Compliance with the barrier measures is sufficient. ”Reveals Doumbia Major, the president of the Cpr.
