He made the announcement in a press release following an extraordinary meeting of the National Security Council (CNS) on Monday March 16, 2020 in Abidjan, under the presidency of the Head of State, Alassane Ouattara.

“Following the presentation by the Minister of Health and Public Hygiene on the evolution of the Coronavirus disease, it appears that on March 16, 2020, six (06) confirmed cases were recorded in Abidjan . The President of the Republic, he stressed, urges all the populations living in C?te d'Ivoire to be responsible and to strictly respect these public health measures.

It also invites traditional authorities and religious leaders to encourage people to scrupulously respect these measures aimed at stemming the spread of the virus. Before calling on Ivorians living outside to comply with the provisions made by the governments of their country of residence.

Covid-19: C?te d'Ivoire close to crossing the 100 case mark

In C?te d'Ivoire, the bar of 100 cases of patients tested positive for Covid-19 is very close to being crossed. The Ivorian Ministry of Health announced, Thursday, March 26, 2020, the confirmation of 16 new cases of contamination; bringing to 96 the number of coronavirus patients

The Minister of Health and Public Hygiene announced, Thursday March 26, 2020, the confirmation of sixteen (16) new cases of contaminations with covid-19.

The country now has ninety-six (96) confirmed cases of patients with the coronavirus. The health authorities also inform of 3 cases of cures.

C?te d'Ivoire, it should be remembered, is the third West African country to have the most patients behind Burkina Faso and Senegal.

Since the first case appeared in C?te d'Ivoire two weeks ago, the Ivorian government has adopted a series of measures aimed at countering the progression of this viral pneumonia.

It was therefore decided to suspend all flights from countries with more than 100 cases of contamination. Still more stringent measures followed a few days later.

President Alassane Ouattara declared Monday, March 23, 2020, the state of emergency, with a curfew running from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Abidjan, the Ivorian economic capital, which records almost all of the confirmed cases of Covid-19, has been cut off from the rest of the interior cities.

But these measures seem insufficient to stop the speed of spread of this pandemic. 71 new cases were declared positive in the space of 3 days (from Tuesday 23 to Thursday 26 March 2020) despite the hardening of the measures adopted by the government.

In C?te d'Ivoire, the isolation of Abidjan provokes a return to the countryside
The country, which has recorded 168 cases of Covid-19 and one death, has decided to surround its economic capital to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

Smith, Ruth and their two children hesitated to leave for a long time. The small family decided in extremis to leave Abidjan, the economic capital of the Ivory Coast, isolated from the rest of the country since Sunday March 29, with prohibition to enter or leave it. Direction: the Daloa countryside, in the west-west of the Ivory Coast, where a house, plantations and a patch of forest await them.

"It is the main production region of C?te d'Ivoire, the one that supplies Abidjan with cassava, bananas, rice ... There is everything, even fish in the lakes, and life is cheaper there" , says Smith, who says he is ready to help his father run the family farm.

Like them, thousands of people fled the city in a hurry. As soon as the schools closed in mid-March, schoolchildren and students returned to the village.
