At a press conference held this morning in Praia, Minister Arlindo do Ros?rio explained that one of the samples that confirmed the presence of the new coronavirus is "a contact" of the first case, the 62-year-old English tourist.
The second positive case confirmed today is that of a tourist from the Netherlands, in another hotel in Boa Vista, which has also been quarantined, according to the official.
"It means that at this moment we have three confirmed cases in Boa Vista," said the minister, guaranteeing that they all have a "good" clinical condition.
The cases of covid-19 in Cape Verde continue to be confined to the island of Boa Vista, which is quarantined, with no air or sea connections to the rest of the archipelago.
The new coronavirus has already caused at least 11,401 deaths worldwide and more than 271,660 cases of infection have been detected in 164 countries and territories.
Several countries have adopted exceptional measures, including the quarantine regime and border closure.
