Covid-19 in Burkina: The traditional weekly press point ends this Friday, June 26, announcement by Dr. Brice Bicaba
The traditional press briefing led by the director of the Center for Health Emergency Response Operations (CORUS), Dr. Brice Bicaba, to give the weekly situation of the Covid-19 ends this Friday, June 26, 2020 in Ouagadougou. This is the announcement that was made during this traditional weekly press briefing. According to him, now the press point will be made monthly, given the evolution of the disease in Burkina and also because of the alleviations made in all the measures put in place as part of the fight against Covid-19.
Thus, the situation of Covid-19 in Burkina Faso on June 24, 2020 is 13 confirmed cases, 10 of which were imported out of 246 samples analyzed. A sample distributed as follows: 96 voluntary screening tests, 73 traveler tests, 37 health worker tests, 15 suspect case tests, 14 vulnerable person tests, five contact person tests and six control test.
The country records three new healings bringing the total to 833 and an active number of 68. Regarding the number of deaths, no death was recorded. The number of deaths still remains 53. The cumulative number of cases confirmed since March 9 is therefore 954 including 365 women and 619 men.
According to Dr. Brice Bicaba, the point of the disease at the global level is as follows: the American continent comes at the top of the list with more than four million confirmed cases, follows the European continent with more than two million cases , Asia also with more than two million cases and Africa in 4th position with more than 347 thousand cases.
Speaking of the most affected African countries, it is South Africa with more than 118 thousand cases, Egypt with more than 61 thousand cases, then Nigeria with more than 22 thousand cases, Ghana with more 15 thousand cases and Cameroon which comes in fifth position with almost 12 thousand cases.
For the ECOWAS countries, the first five countries most affected in terms of number, we record Nigeria in first position, Ghana in 2nd, Cote d'Ivoire in 3rd, Senegal in 4th and Guinea Conakry in 5th position. Burkina Faso comes in 12th with 954 cases and Gambia as the least affected country with 41 cases.
