Yako: an as yet undetermined disease kills three children in Saria
By AB. BIA- April 6, 2022 1088
Yako, April 6, 2022(AIB)- The Yako health district will carry out investigations to determine the disease that killed three children in the village of Saria on Sunday.
The village of Saria, located about twelve kilometers from Yako on the Yako-Koudougou axis, lost on Sunday April 3, 2022, three of its children, including a daughter, due to an as yet undetermined illness.
They were three, ten and eleven years old.
A delegation led by the Chief Health District Medical Officer (MCD) of Yako, Dr. Mamadi Ouédraogo visited the said village on the morning of Tuesday, April 5, 2022.
She first offered her deepest condolences to the families bereaved by this unusual event.
Since the bodies had already been buried, the MCD says it took samples from other sick children with the same symptoms as those who died, in order to determine the exact nature of the disease.
These symptoms include headache, fever and stiff neck, among others.
We also learn that one of the deceased children came from Côte d'Ivoire about a month ago.
But while waiting for the conclusions, Dr Ouédraogo invited parents whose children would present similar symptoms, to go to the nearest health center.
Investigations based on the interrogation are also engaged in order to determine the origin of this disease which continues to make headlines to such an extent that one speaks of witchcraft in the places of chat.
