The National Office for the Safety of Food Products denied the death of poultry in Morocco, stressing that the health status of chickens is normal.

In the last two days, news was reported from the head of the National Association of Meat Producers, Muhammad Abboud, who spoke about the death of poultry in farms.

Abboud said, in a statement to SNRTnews, that what was issued by him came as a result of the statements of poultry farmers from the members of the association, considering that the causes of poultry deaths are not known until now, which confirms that it has reached 50 percent in some farms.

However, Dr. Ghassan Lamsieh, Head of the Poultry Health Tracking Department at the National Office for Food Safety, confirmed, in a statement to SNRTnews, that "no unusual deaths of poultry have been recorded," stressing that "the health status of poultry is normal."

Youssef Al-Alawi, head of the Inter-Professional Federation of the Poultry Sector, confirmed to SNRTnews what the official of the National Office of Health Safety for Food Products explained, stressing that the health status of chickens in the farmlands has returned, and no cases of diseases have been recorded that lead to the death of part of the herd.

He pointed out that the National Office for the Health Safety of Food Products monitors the implementation of the legislation that concerns health safety, and that Morocco is internationally committed to declaring all diseases affecting poultry, otherwise it will be prohibited, in the event of non-compliance with this obligation, from the export of some agricultural products.

Ghassan Lasih goes to the point that the poultry sector is subject to strict control according to the law, as it is not possible to practice this activity before obtaining a license from the veterinary services. Rather, poultry farmers in farms are obligated to contract with a veterinarian delegated by the National Office for Health Safety for Food Products.

He added that the estates are bound by a health record, in which all details about the health of the herd and the medicines that are given to it are recorded, stressing that the interests of the office visit the farms in order to determine the extent of its commitment to the laws in force in poultry farming.

He pointed out that the office's departments visited 3,400 villages last year, where the monitoring process led to arranging penalties for 340 villages for not complying with the law.

He stressed that monitoring is not limited to farms only, but extends to wet areas and borders, as in order to prevent the spread of diseases, such as bird flu, medical certificates are given upon import for poultry, and trucks are sterilized at the borders.

    Writing R Wednesday, March 2, 2022 - 12:36 PM

White meat producers have formally denied false rumors concerning a "mysterious" disease affecting poultry.

Thus, the president of the National Association of Poultry Meat Producers told Le Site info that in fact it is neither a "mysterious nor particular" disease, but certain customary seasonal diseases. The latter, said Mustapha Mountassir, can affect poultry because of the reduction in the raw materials used in the production of special feed for poultry.

On the other hand, our interlocutor recalled that professionals in the poultry sector are sounding the alarm regarding the announced bankruptcy of several producers of white meat, the number of which has risen to between 25 and 30 breeders, during the last eight month.
