Poultry Wealth Division: Egypt has enough and increases poultry production

Rashad Qarni, a member of the Poultry Wealth Division, justified the record hikes in poultry and eggs prices during the recent period, saying: “As for eggs, the actual cost of producing them is 34 pounds on the farm and as a result of the imbalance between supply and demand mechanisms, especially since egg prices after Ramadan caused producers losses, Where it was sold per carton at less than the cost, reaching 52 pounds per dish compared to the same period last year, when the price of the dish was 36 pounds.
He added, in a telephone interview during the “A Final Word” program, presented by the TV presenter Lamis Al Hadidi on the “ ON ” screen, that with regard to poultry, the fluctuations of feed affected the final price levels, as the price of a ton of feed exceeded 8 thousand pounds, and the shortage of feed supply coupled with increased demand. The cost on the breeder, which led to a rise in prices, and Al-Hadidi interrupted him, saying: But a 34% increase in the price of poultry in 15 days is too much.” To reply, he said: “What happened was the first of October, but because the fodder remained 8,300 pounds per ton, so the herd was finished and followed.”
Regarding solutions to the crisis, Qarni said: “The proposals include the intervention of the Minister of Agriculture, in cooperation with the General Federation of Poultry Production, to set price controls, because the citizen will not be able to bear those prices for a long time to the extent that the sale is suspended, explaining that Egypt has sufficiency and increases poultry production, as Egypt produces more What you need, saying: "There are breeders who refrain from entering the market in the winter season, which causes a shortage of supply at rates ranging between 30-35% in this particular period, and a rise in prices will occur."
