Coronavirus: 27 new cases, including one new indigenous case
Thursday April 2, 2020 - 18:08
The prefecture and the Regional Health Agency confirm 27 new cases of COVID-19 coronavirus in Reunion, this Thursday, April 2 at 3 p.m., i.e. a total of 308 cases since the appearance of the first case on March 11, 2020.
267 cases have been investigated by the ARS and Sant? publique France to date.
• Assessment of the cases investigated:
Imported cases (people who contracted the disease outside the territory): 214
Cases of local transmission (directly or indirectly linked to imported cases): 51
Aboriginal case (not directly or indirectly related to imported cases): 2
Total number of cases investigated: 267
Imported cases represent 80% of cases.
• Health situation:
Cases hospitalized in the intensive care unit: 2
Patients who have already met the criteria for recovery pronounced by the teaching hospital (absence of fever and shortness of breath for at least 48 hours, from the 8th day of onset of symptoms): 40
• Age groups of the cases investigated:
Minors: 11%
18 to 50: 50%
51 to 65: 27%
over 65: 12%
• Location of cases
Even today, the vast majority of cases identified are imported cases (mainly from mainland France) or cases of direct contamination by imported cases, travelers or contacts of imported cases.
No indigenous chain of transmission has been identified to date, that is to say, no grouping of cases which are said to have been contaminated in a commune or a district of R?union.
To date, there are no areas of the island more at risk than others, and the barrier and containment measures therefore apply as a precaution everywhere and in the same way.
In this context, there is no need to communicate on the location of cases, this information will only make sense in the event of the identification of indigenous transmission areas in the territory.
41 cases are still under investigation ...
