Friday numbers: Second death, 480 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Utah

With the United States leading the world in confirmed infections, Utah's COVID-19 cases grew to 480 on Friday with official numbers showing a second death.

A West Jordan family says five people in their household contracted COVID-19, and the infection killed a 24-year-old daughter and sister.
Silvia Deyanira Melendez died Saturday at University Hospital, members of her family said. Her death was not reflected in the new numbers the Utah Department of Health released Sunday. The department listed 719 cases of coronavirus and two deaths from it. Also on Sunday, the family of Bob Garff, the chairman of the Ken Garff Automotive Group, announced his death from the virus.

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah picked up two more coronavirus deaths, its third and fourth, according to the latest COVID-19 numbers released by the Utah Department of Health.

SALT LAKE CITY — One more person has died from COVID-19 in Utah, and nearly 200 more cases of the disease were reported on Saturday by health officials.
Utah now has 1,429 cases of the disease out of 28,043 people tested, according to the Utah Department of Health. Of those cases, 117 people have required hospitalization.
