    COVID-19 is a new virus identified as the cause of an outbreak of respiratory illness first detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China and which continues to expand. Chinese health officials have reported thousands of infections with COVID-19 in China, with the virus reportedly spreading from person-to-person in many parts of that country. Infections with COVID-19, most of them associated with travel from Wuhan, also are being reported in a growing number of international locations, including the United States.

    Mayor David Holt declares state of emergency for Oklahoma City amid coronavirus outbreak

    <snip>

    On Sunday, state Health Department officials announced that three more Oklahomans had tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus, increasing the state's total to seven. The three new cases were confirmed in Cleveland County, Payne County and Tulsa County.

    During Sunday's news conference, Holt said health officials believe the confirmed case of the coronavirus in Cleveland County spread locally.

    "Local public health officials have consistently maintained that this was the threshold that should trigger even more proactive measures to protect public health," Holt said.

    Mayor David Holt on Sunday declared a state of emergency for Oklahoma City amid the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak after a locally spread case was discovered in the metro.

    Okieman comment: Please note that this is the first community acquired case in Oklahoma.
