    ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) - The St. Louis Metropolitan Pandemic Task Force and the State of Missouri reported a sharp increase in the number of hospitalizations for COVID-19 on Friday. The Task Force also reported a large increase on Saturday.

    The St. Louis Metropolitan Pandemic Task Force reported its largest increase in hospitalizations since May, with 35 new patients being hospitalized Saturday; 33 new patients were admitted Friday.

    A total of of 170 patients are in St. Louis hospitals with COVID-19 and 170 patients that are currently in the hospital are suspected to have COVID-19. The data from the task force has a lag time of two days.

    The seven-day moving average of hospitalizations increased from 166 Friday to 168 Saturday. The moving average of hospital admissions increased from 24 to 26.
