    Situation Update for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

    Health professionals evaluating a patient for suspected coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), should follow guidance for Evaluating and Testing for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
    Minnesota Case Information

    The number of positive tests among Minnesota residents and the approximate number of patients tested for COVID-19 in Minnesota will be updated Monday through Friday with test results from the previous day.
    As of March 15, 2020
    • 1422 approximate number of patients tested
    • 35 positives

    Counties with cases: Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Olmsted, Ramsey, Renville, Stearns, Waseca, Washington, Wright
    Numbers are cumulative since Jan. 20, 2020. We will not release specific locations for any patients being tested in order to protect patient privacy.

    Minnesota health officials Tuesday said a third person in the state is believed to have COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.

    The case involves an Anoka County resident in their 30s who was likely exposed through contact with international travelers. Health officials said the person was with those travelers while out of state, but within the United States. The patient is currently hospitalized in critical condition, the Minnesota Department of Health said.

    Second case of coronavirus confirmed in Minnesota

    News Release from the Minnesota Department of Health:

    The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) today confirmed a second presumptive positive case of novel coronavirus, COVID-19. The case is a resident of Carver County in their 50s who was likely exposed to COVID-19 while traveling in Europe in late February.

    The patient developed symptoms on March 2, and sought health care Saturday, March 7. Samples were collected from the person and sent to the MDH Public Health Laboratory for testing and the test was found positive late this afternoon, March 8. As with the COVID-19 case announced Friday, MDH is awaiting confirmatory testing from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) but health officials consider the presumptive results actionable.

    The patient is in isolation at home and is recovering....

    Patient is recovering at home; health officials working to prevent additional cases

    Governor Tim Walz and Commissioner of Health Jan Malcolm will hold a media briefing at 4 p.m. in the Governor’s Reception Room of the State Capitol to provide additional information about this developing story.

    The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) has confirmed Minnesota’s first presumptive case of novel coronavirus, COVID-19, health officials announced today.

    The case is an older adult resident of Ramsey County who recently traveled on a cruise ship with a known COVID-19 case. The patient began to develop symptoms on Feb. 25 and sought health care yesterday. Samples were collected from the person and sent to the MDH Public Health Laboratory for testing today. The test was found positive earlier today. MDH is awaiting confirmatory testing from CDC, but health officials consider the presumptive results actionable...
