I suspected China was hoarding. I wonder if they are going to allow exports to other countries now.

  • S. Korea on edge over largest yet mass infections in Seoul

South Korea sees slowing pace of newly discovered cases continue

Seoul’s biggest-yet cluster of infections emerged in South Korea’s capital Tuesday, keeping health authorities on their toes despite the number of newly discovered infections slowing for the fourth consecutive day.

South Korea’s reported coronavirus cases rose by 131 to 7,513 with a total of 54 deaths, marking the lowest daily increase in two weeks, according to data tallied at Monday midnight by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The new cluster in Seoul involves a total of 64 people, including employees at a call center in southwestern Seoul and their families, Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon said Tuesday, with an investigation into how the patients contracted the virus underway.

The number of confirmed cases linked to the call center in Guro-gu was feared to shoot up, given the working environment of the call center, at which employees sit close next to each other and constantly talk into phones.

Some 140 employees and trainees there were being tested for the virus as of Tuesday afternoon.

Fears about community spread are also mounting as the employees there reside in different parts of Seoul and nearby cities outside the capital -- at least 13 cases were confirmed in Incheon alone.

After the employees at the call center, who were using the 11th floor, tested positive for the virus late Monday, the authorities shut down the 12-story building for disinfection and launc..http://www.koreaherald.com/view.php?ud=20200310000789

    • ...At least 600 people are presumed to have worked at the location, the KCDC said.

"Efforts should be made for companies to adopt telecommuting and working at home and people to practice social distancing at work places," he said.

Social distancing refers to a series of tactics designed to keep people from gathering in large crowds to maintain distance, including working from home, canceling school and avoiding in-person meetings.

So far, a few mass infection cases have been reported in Seoul. A total of 14 virus patients were linked to Eunpyeong St. Mary's Hospital in Eunpyeong Ward. Another 13 cases in Seoul came from an apartment building in Seongdong Ward.

Another cluster of infections was reported in Dongdaemun Ward, where a couple in their 60s and their daughter in her 30s, along with her four-week infant, all tested positive for the virus.

Also, a small cluster infections linked to a religious sect related to most cases in the country occurred in Daegu over the weekend.

Out of 140 residents at an apartment building in Daegu, 46 have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.....https://en.yna.co.kr/view/AEN2020031...ional/national

The interim classification is based on the reporting location, which may change depending on further epidemiological investigation.

In Seoul, 50 cases have confirmed at call center in Gurogu and investigation is underway. 46 except contact of family among confirmed cases have worked at 11thcall center. 207 employers are under investigation.

KCDC National institute of Health(K-NIH) said that they successfully developed a probe to detect COVID-19 antibody in the blood on 10 March. Techniques to identify whether body’s immune system can produce antibodies against antigen are essential for evaluating the efficacy of vaccines or therapeutics.

K-NIH has established a test (Immunofluorescence Assay, IFA) to examine the human body’s immunological response on the blood obtained from COVID-19 patients. K-NIH plans to accelerate the development of related therapeutics based on the development of a probe to detect COVID-19 antibody.

KCDC urges to local government to cooperate with facilities as cases are confirmed around group facilities, multi-use facilities, and medical centers. Also KCDC recommends everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, and social distancing to avoid population crowding or cancel/suspend gathering activities.

Optimism that the pace of new Covid-19 cases is slowing in South Korea has been tempered by reports on Wednesday of a significant number of new infections and concern over a cluster of cases at a call centre in Seoul.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) reported 242 new cases on Wednesday, up from 131 a day earlier, bringing the total to 7,755. Sixty people have died in the country, the KCDC added...
