An estimated 23,000 ICU admissions for COVID-19 prevented
Without measures against the spread of the new coronavirus, there would have been an estimated 23,000 more ICU intensive care admissions for COVID-19 in the Netherlands. Because people have adhered to the measures so well, we have been able to prevent this in the Netherlands. Jaap van Dissel said this during the technical briefing in the House of Representatives. In total, it amounts to about 90% of ICU recordings for COVID-19.
The numbers are based on model calculations by the RIVM National Institute for Public Health and the Environment. These remain, of course, estimates. But it shows how important it is that people stick to the measures so well.
