Coronavirus in Italy, 2 cases in Rome. Conte: Chinese tourists, no alarms

'Careful checks are underway to reconstruct the route' of the two Chinese tourists, the first ascertained cases of Coronavirus in Italy, 'to isolate their passageways, to avoid absolutely any further risk compared to that already established'. So the Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte in a press conference at Palazzo Chigi with the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza.

The onset of Coronavirus cases in Italy is 'a fairly normal fact if we think of statistics, given that in Europe there are already ten cases. It was quite probable, our scientists had said so for a long time ?. Health Minister Roberto Speranza says this at Palazzo Chigi.

The room of the hotel in the center of Rome where the Chinese couple had been staying in the Spallanzani hospital for suspected coronavirus had stayed in the last few days. Additional preventive measures could be applied against vehicles and people with whom the couple had come into contact. During the first relief operations, police officers had also drawn up a report which was then sent to the Ministry of Health.

Coronavirus, infected two Chinese tourists in Rome. The alarm in the hotel: 'My husband has a fever'

Rome - The 23 arrived from Beijing on Malpensa: a group of twenty one tourists. A tour in Italy is scheduled, all by bus. However, on Wednesday a couple, husband and wife, 67 years old he, 66 she from Wuhan province, felt bad while they were in a hotel in Rome. At five in the afternoon he had a fever so high that his wife called the front desk asking for a doctor. But from the desk they alerted and warned 112. In an minutes an ambulance took them to Spallanzani.

The alarm went off at the Palatino hotel, a four-star hotel with two hundred rooms in via Cavour, where only yesterday evening, from the live press conference of Prime Minister Conte and the Minister of Health Speranza, they learned that the two Chinese tourists hospitalized they had tested positive for Coronavirus for 48 hours.

When confirmation of the positivity arrived from the hospital, the seat belt was immediately and secretly triggered: the objective was to identify and immediately stop the other tourists who had traveled with the couple who tested positive. Thus the hunt for the tour operator's bus traveling to Cassino where the party was blocked was started. No one was dropped off, the Chinese were refreshed with water and sandwiches and, escorted by the police, the bus immediately headed for Rome. All at Spallanzani, for the necessary checks in an armored hospital where the reception service was closed to the public. In isolation only the two spouses remain, he with an evident pneumonia, his wife with very mild symptoms.

At the Palatino hotel they say that the party should have arrived today to reunite with the couple. 'They never came here and nobody told us anything,' they say at the desk where, at 10.30pm, they struggle to keep the situation under control. 'The Chinese tourist couple did not use any of our services, except the breakfast room. However, the room in which they are housed was immediately sealed and the service staff worked with latex masks and gloves,' says the manager of the hotel that takes the place of the director Enzo Ciannelli.

Coronavirus, Italy has declared a state of health emergency for six months. Spallanzani hospital: '2 confirmed cases, 32 under observation'

The movements of the couple of Chinese tourists hospitalized on Thursday at Spallanzani in the capital are investigated: it was found that, after arriving in Milan, he had rented a car and stopped in Verona, Parma and Florence before arriving about a week ago in Rome . So he would not have reached the capital by collective means of transport. Meanwhile, through the interpreters, the two made it known that they had 'fallen ill as soon as they arrived in Rome and that they had always remained closed in the Hotel'
            The investigations
The task force of the Ministry of Health is trying to better define the itinerary of the two, husband and wife aged 67 and 66, also to - if necessary - take any precautions. Meanwhile, a meeting on the case with the hospital is already underway in Parma.

The two tourists, originally from Hubei, the Chinese province outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic, had landed in Milan Malpensa on January 23 last and had stopped earlier in Verona (reclaimed the hotel room used by the two and controlled all the people who they could have had direct contact with them), then Parma and finally in Florence before arriving at the hotel in Rome. The two were not checked when they arrived in Italy because, as the dates indicate, their flight arrived when the health checks ordered by the Ministry of Health were not yet scheduled (they only took place on Sunday 26 January).

ROME. The conditions of the Wuhan couple hospitalized at Spallanzani in Rome worsened. In the past few hours they have had an aggravation due to respiratory failure. So 'respiratory support was needed in intensive care', as the average bulletin states. The two 60-year-olds, who arrived in Italy on a flight over Malpensa, had then made a small tour before arriving in Rome at the Palatino hotel. Just while they were there, the high fever came and the whole prevention practice started. The two Chinese gentlemen are the first cornavirus patients in Italy.

At Spallanzani, 11 symptomatic patients from areas of China affected by the epidemic are still hospitalized. All were tested for the new coronavirus.

Just after this hospitalization last week, virologists went to work isolating the virus. Meanwhile, 26 other patients have been discharged because of negative test results.

(ANSA) - Rome, February 7 - The first Italian patient to test positive for coronavirus is unlikely to have infected the other 55 nationals who were evacuated with him from the Chinese city of Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak, and who are now quarantined in Rome's Cecchignola military complex, the director of the infectious diseases department of Italy's Higher Health Institute (ISS), Gianni Rezza, told ANSA on Friday...

... The man who tested positive had a slight fever and conjunctivitis, he said.
"Clearly, nobody can rule out that there will be a new case among Italians at the Cecchignola, although it is unlikely", Rezza added, noting that they would not have necessarily been infected by the patient, because everybody came from Wuhan...

Coronavirus, sixteen new infected. Two are in Veneto. New 8 cases in Codogno, 5 health workers
Councilor for Welfare of the Lombardy Region: '250 people in isolation'
Two other cases of coronavirus in Italy after 6 in Lombardy: these are two Venetian citizens who at the first tests were positive. The two have already been isolated in hospital and now expect the results of a second test they have undergone.

In Codogno another 8 cases - '' Compared to the swabs made in these hours on the one hand there are negative evidences, but on the other we have identified 8 other positivity including 5 health workers, nurses and doctors from the Codogno hospital and three patients " : this is what the Lombard Councilor for Welfare Giulio Gallera said.

The six people tested positive for coronavirus in Lombardy "are in serious condition". This is what the governor of Lombardy, Attilio Fontana said. The sick are all adults, around 40 years old. It is a 38-year-old man employed by Unilever of Lodi, hospitalized in intensive care at the Codogno hospital. His condition improved slightly compared to last night when he went to the emergency room.

There are about ten Municipalities, all in the same area, affected by the coronavirus ordinance decided by a control room chaired by the governor Attilio Fontana, the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza and the head of civil protection Borrelli. The Councilor for Welfare of the Giulio Gallera Region explained it by speaking of "nine, ten municipalities" and listing among others Somaglia and Castelgerundo.

WHERE ARE WE AT THE CORONAVIRUS?

The man, in recent weeks, would have gone to dinner with a colleague returned from China, an employee of the Mae of Fiorenzuola d'Arda, in Piacentino. His wife, a pregnant teacher and currently on maternity leave, was also positive. A third person who allegedly had contact with the 38-year-old for doing sports with him spontaneously showed up in the hospital with symptoms of pneumonia. Three other people are hospitalized with pneumonia clinical picture at Codogno hospital. The colleague returned from China was accompanied to the Sacco hospital in Milan where he is in solitary confinement and tested negative for a first test for coronavirus.

In addition to the 38 year old and his wife, 3 customers of a bar in Codogno and the son of the owner of the shop would be the other four positive to Coronavirus. According to what ANSA learns, the owner's son had played soccer with the 38-year-old, while the other three are only customers of the bar and would never have come into direct contact with him. In addition, the 38-year-old general practitioner is hospitalized with pneumonia: as far as we learn, the doctor would be hospitalized in Milan.

According to the virologist Giorgio Pal? of the University of Padua, it is possible to be negative on the test even after having had a SarsCoV2 coronavirus infection. Meanwhile, a woman, symptomatic, of the 38-year-old coronavirus positive colleague is hospitalized in isolation in the Infectious Diseases Department of the Piacenza Hospital. Prime Minister Conte has announced that a quarantine has been arranged for all those who have come into contact with the infected. At the moment there are two hundred and fifty people put in solitary confinement. Among them - said the councilor for Welfare of Lombardy, Giulio Gallera - 149 are nurses, doctors, family members and people who came into direct contact with the 38-year-old hospitalized in Codogno. Then there are the employees who work in his company and have had direct contact with him. Gallera invited the citizens of Castiglione d'Adda, Codogno and Casalpusterlengo, as a precaution, to stay at home "in voluntary quarantine" and clarified that all the necessary diagnostic tests have already been carried out on the entire medical and health staff of the Codogno hospital.

The mayor of Codogno has ordered the closure of the schools for the afternoon of today and for tomorrow, and "at least until Sunday" for all the "food and drink administration, public entertainment and meeting places and crowd gathering "such as discos, dance halls, game rooms and sports facilities. In Castiglione d'Adda, where the parents of the man infected with the coronavirus reside, the celebrations for the carnival and sporting events have been suspended and schools are being closed. Even in Lodi we think of the closure of schools. The deputy mayor of Casalpusterlengo ordered the closure of the schools and kindergartens.

The Ministry of Health has established a "trust" home quarantine obligation for those who have returned from a trip to China in the last 14 days and "active surveillance" for those who have been in areas at risk, that is, in the Asian country as indicated by the WHO, with obligation to report to the local health authorities upon returning to Italy.

WHO says it is concerned about the number of infections that do not have a clear epidemiological link, for example that they have not traveled to China or had contact with confirmed cases. To avoid risky contact and contagion between doctors, family doctors will do a telephone triage before making a home visit or receiving a patient with suspected coronavirus symptoms. The Italian Federation of General Practitioners will send to all doctors a card with questions about contacts, the patient's breathing capacity, and any episodes of dyspnea.

"At the moment there is no reason to raise the alarm level in Italy to the maximum. The maximum level is if there are many autochthonous cases in various parts of Italy, that is, we need multiple outbreaks that light up simultaneously". So the president of the Society of Infectious and Tropical Diseases, Marcello Tavio, at 'Coronaviris - Il punto' by ANSA. "At that point the epidemiological criterion of contact with a person who had or has had the virus or has been in a high-risk country is no longer valid, because anyone could have the virus, but we are still out of this scenario."

GENOA - Four Chinese are hospitalized in Genoa to check for possible coronavirus infection. The four, father and three children, are under observation at the San Martino hospital. Man is asymptomatic, children have some thermal and respiratory symptoms. The mother and the other child, currently asymptomatic, are in isolation from their home. The Region announced. They make up the family unit. The seventh person lives in Italy but outside the family unit. This has never been in contact with the members of the family and there is no particular attention on her. She had been associated with the family because at first she was resident with the family. Father, mother and children had returned from China on February 15 from an area with high coronavirus circulation.

PIACENZA - The Ausl of Piacenza has also started checks and controls on the Emilia region: the colleague returned from China with whom the 38-year-old patient went out to dinner in fact works for a company in Fiorenzuola d'Arda (Piacenza). The checks are used to verify the possible contacts of the Italian who has returned from China with Piacenza employees of the company.

"As a precautionary measure, a health team has been sent to monitor workers in the Mae company in Fiorenzuola," the mayor of Fiorenzuola d'Arda, Romeo Gandolfi wrote on Facebook. "The Fiorenzuola worker returned from China in late January and identified by patient zero as a suspect 1 - he says - is currently hospitalized in Codogno hospital for checks". "In the early afternoon we will have other updates from the Piacenza ASL".

And a symptomatic woman is hospitalized in isolation in the Infectious Diseases department of the Piacenza Hospital, connecting the coronavirus positive patient to the Unilever of Lodi, explains the Emilia-Romagna Region in a note. The outcome of this swab is expected from this patient examined at the Sant'Orsola regional reference laboratory.

As regards the two companies involved, Unilever (where the 38-year-old positive at Covid-19 works) and Mae spa (where the friend of the Lodigiano who has returned from China is employed), the ministerial protocols envisaged have already been activated, specifies the Emilia Region -Romagna. The management of the Lombard company (Unilever) is the responsibility of the Lombardy Region, while the Emilia-Romagna Region, in full connection with the Piacenza Health Authority, is dealing with the MAE. The public hygiene department of Piacenza has already contacted the competent doctor of the MAE to initiate supervision of the company's workers, which today has been prudently closed on the initiative of the owner. If the employee Mae, who returned from China on January 21 and already negative to the swab, were also negative to further investigations, the approach will be modified accordingly.

THE SPALLANZANI BULLETIN - "The young Italian researcher, a confirmed case of COVID-19, has now been persistently negative on tests for the search for the new coronavirus". This is what emerges from today's medical bulletin of the Spallanzani hospital in Rome.

"In these days we will decide if we should, as probable, put him in another room for observation." Spallanzani's health director, Francesco Vaia said this when speaking of the infected Italian researcher, on the sidelines of today's bulletin. To those who asked him if he was cured he replied: "In fact, he is persistently negative on the test".

"The pair of Chinese citizens from the city of Wuhan, confirmed cases of Covid - 19, continues to be hospitalized in our Institute. The couple's clinical conditions have improved, significantly

Two coronavirus cases confirmed at the first test in Padua

These are two people - a 78-year-old man and a 67-year-old woman - who were hospitalized 15 days ago at the Monselice hospital. These are elderly people from the Euganean Hills area. They live in Vo 'Euganeo. One of the two was found to be in 'serious condition'. Both did not go to China or to risk areas. One of them had been treated like a normal flu. He then developed a major airway disease before being tested. Both were transferred to the hospital in Padua. Their conditions are serious. One of them is in intensive care.

                          THE CONTACTS.

The two patients had 'several local contacts' and were treated in the first few days for lung infection. The Region immediately contacted both the 'Schiavonia' hospital in Monselice and the mayor of Vo 'Euganeo to establish the immediate measures envisaged by the health protocols. Among these, the closure of schools is being considered. Even in the hospital of Monselice, the health workers who came into contact with the two patients are subjected to a buffer test. The mayor of Vo 'Euganeo, Giuliano Martini: 'I learned about it from the manager of the Usl 6 company of Padua, Scibetta, half an hour ago. He informed me of the positivity to the tests of my two fellow citizens and the activation of the Unit in Padua. of crisis '. The two, who share two public places in Vo 'Euganeo, both live with family members.

                          THE ORIGIN.

One of the first things that the unit is trying to establish is from whom the two people were infected, which, it is good to repeat, did not return from areas of crisis, such as the East or China, but remained in Vo '.
