    First quarantine in Iran is port city of Chabahar in southeastern Iran

    TEHRAN

    Iran has quarantined the southeastern port city Chabahar over coronavirus fears.

    Entering and exiting Chabahar, in the Sistan-Baluchestan province, have been banned, according to Iran's official news agency IRNA.

    Ambulances announced that Chabahar is in quarantine and people are not to leave their homes.

    Meanwhile, the city of Nishabur in the eastern Razavi-Khorasan province is on red alert, with entering and exiting banned.

    Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei also canceled a traditional Newroz speech.

    Previously, travel to 17 states in Iran were banned over the outbreak...

        Iran has now recorded around 9,000 coronavirus cases in the country, nearly a thousand more cases in one day, Kianush Jahanpur, a health ministry spokesman, said on Wednesday.

        The death toll from the coronavirus outbreak has reached 354, a rise of 63 in the past 24 hours, Jahanpur told state TV.

        Wednesday's tally is the highest single-day toll since the start of the outbreak in February.

        Jahanpur added that 2959 patients have fully recovered, and called on Iranians to avoid unnecessary trips and stay at home...

          Five members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have died from coronavirus, IRGC spokesman Ramezan Sharif said on Wednesday.

          The five IRGC members and a number of Basij members have been “martyred” in the “fight against coronavirus,” the semi-official Tasnim news agency cited Sharif as saying. The Basij is a paramilitary arm of the IRGC.

          Over 100,000 members of the IRGC and the Basij have been deployed to help contain the coronavirus outbreak in Iran, said Sharif.

          At least 13 Iranian regime figures have died from coronavirus and 11 others were infected since the beginning of the outbreak in the Islamic Republic.

            Fortunately, 2959 patients with Kovir 19 have been recovered and discharged so far, said the head of the Ministry of Health's Public Relations and Information Center.

                Dr. Jahanpour, a spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, said: "From yesterday to today, based on the laboratory results, 1075 new cases of Kovid 19 have been identified in the country and the total number of people with the disease has increased to 10075 in the country.
