    Information about Coronavirus disease COVID-19


    Official information about coronavirus COVID-19 (previously known as 2019-nCoV) in Estonia can be found on the website of the Health Board. The Health Board does not recommend traveling to the areas virus outbreak because of the risk of community-based transmission of COVID-19. The outbreak of novel coronavirus originated in the city of Wuhan, China, on December 31st, 2019.

    As of today, there are 640 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Estonia.

    The Estonian government declares state of emergency to fight coronavirus spread.

      In neighboring Estonia, the number of COVID-19 cases rose by 39 in the past day, totaling to 679, according to the health authorities. Three people have died of the infection across the country.

          The fourth coronavirus death in Estonia has been announced. A total of 91 people are currently hospitalized with the virus. Thirty new cases have been recorded since Monday morning. Six people have been reported recovered from the illness over the same time-frame.

          The victim was a 90-year-old man, and died at the Ida-Viru Central Hospital (Ida-Viru Keskhaigla) on Tuesday night
          The Health Board carried out a total of 1,149 coronavirus tests were carried out in the 24 hours March 30-31.

          The total number of coronavirus tests conducted in Estonia since January 31 now stands at 12,401.

          The total number of confirmed cases is now 745, according to Health Board data, up from 692 on Monday.

              The number of confirmed COVID-19 infection cases in Latvia has reached 458, growing by 12 cases in the past day. Meanwhile, Lithuanian media report 649 confirmed coronavirus infection cases.

              The latest data for Estonia depicts 858 COVID-19 infection cases.

              Five deaths from the virus are confirmed in Estonia. 33 people have recovered from the virus so far.

              In Lithuania the number of deaths from complications caused by the virus has reached eight. The number of recoveries has reached seven.

              So far a total of 16 834 people have been tested in Latvia for COVID-19, as reported by the Disease Prevention and Monitoring Centre (SPKC). 32 patients have been hospitalized, including 29 suffering from medium symptoms and three suffering from heavy symptoms.

                Estonian coronavirus cases continued their upward trend as 103 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours, the Health Board (Terviseamet) said on Friday. Deaths due to the coronavirus have risen to 12. The epidemic is expected to peak by the end of next week.

                According to Merike J?rilo, Director General of the Health Board, the number of COVID-19 coronavirus cases has continued its upward trend with 5-7 percent of all samples being positive.

                Between 7 a.m. April 2 and 7 a.m. April 3, a total of 2,514 tests were carried out across Estonia. Family doctors have made over 7,500 referrals.

                As of Friday morning, 90 patients are being treated in hospital after contracting the disease, 16 people are on ventilators, and 48 people have been discharged from hospitals across the country.

Eleven more people tested positive for the virus in the same time period, and one person has been discharged from hospital, leaving the number of people hospitalized with the virus at 129.                               Over last 24 hours 1,471 COVID-19 virus tests were analysed in Estonia, 3% of them, i.e. 51 tests came back positive. In total, 27,883 coronavirus tests have been performed in Estonia, of which 1,258 (5%) have shown positive results.

                              According to the population register, the highest number of coronavirus cases were found in Harju County (23), Tartu County (11) and Saaremaa (8). Ida-Viru County and P?rnu County had two new cases each, J?geva County and Viljandi County one new case each. For two new cases there was no information regarding their county of registration.

                              As of the morning of April 10, 138 patients require hospitalisation due to the novel coronavirus, 9 persons require ventilation. 93 people have been discharged. During the previous 24 h period no deaths were reported due to COVID-19. Total 24 people have died in Estonia due to the COVID-19 coronavirus.
