The positives amount to 97,110 and 5,984. deaths from COVID-19 in Ecuador

Quito, Aug 12 (EFE) .- The number of positive cases for COVID-19 in Ecuador rose to 97,110 this Wednesday, 1,547 new cases compared to the day before, while deaths totaled 33 to 5,984 deaths.
This was specified in its daily report by the Emergency Operations Committee (COE), in charge of attending to the health emergency in the country and which also mentions 3,545 "probable deaths" from coronavirus, cases that presented symptoms of COVID-19, but of which there is no confirmation on the cause of death.
According to the official gazette, since the first contagion was detected in Ecuador, on February 29, 272,000 samples have been taken for coronavirus, between rapid and PCR.
Of this total of tests, 134,654 cases have been ruled out, while another 12,788 were discharged from hospital.
Likewise, the report specified that 66,099 recovered cases have been registered, 920 people are hospitalized in stable conditions and 348 with a reserved prognosis.
Based on PCR tests, the capital Quito has the highest number of positive cases, registering another 712 in the last 24 hours, reaching 17,232 infections.
Guayaquil, which until recently was the most infected jurisdiction in the country, but is now behind Quito, reaching 12,252 infections, 47 more than on Tuesday.
CONTAGES BY PROVINCES
Of the 24 provinces of the country, Pichincha, with Quito as the capital, is the one that reports the most infections with 19,057, followed by the coastal area of Guayas, of which Guayaquil is the head, which adds 17,993 cases
It is followed by Manab? with 7,174 cases, Santo Domingo de los Ts?chilas (4,120), Azuay (4,055), El Oro (3,721), Esmeraldas (3,383), Loja (3,247), Los R?os (2,967), Cotopaxi (2,480), Tungurahua ( 2,480), Morona Santiago (2,192), Imbabura (1,976), Chimborazo (1,695), Sucumb?os (1,650), Pastaza (1,645), Orellana (1,455), Bol?var (1,292), Santa Elena (1,178) and Zamora Chinchipe (1,070) .
The rest of the provinces have less than a thousand cases each, while the island of Galapagos, located about a thousand kilometers from the Ecuadorian continental coasts, registers 105 positives.
Regarding the age group that concentrates the largest number of confirmed, the one that comprises people between 20 and 49 years old stands out with 59.4%, followed by that of 50 to 64 years, which represents 21.3% contagion.
Since the beginning of June and after almost four months of quarantine, Ecuador began to ease restrictions to face the coronavirus pandemic and launched a de-escalation mechanism, called "epidemiological traffic lights", to expand the margin of human, labor and productive mobility .
The measure allowed going from massive isolation to physical distancing, in the midst of a state of exception decreed by President Len?n Moreno on March 16 and which has been extended on several occasions.
Last week, the Emergency Operations Committee (COE) issued 16 mandatory regulations for the entire country, regardless of the color of the traffic light, in order to contain COVID-19 infections.
