    ST. JOHN'S, N.L. -- A woman who was recently on a cruise ship has become Newfoundland and Labrador's first COVID-19 patient, the province's top public health doctor announced on Saturday.

    Dr. Janice Fitzgerald said the woman's case is presumptive until results of local tests can be confirmed by the National Microbiology Lab in Winnipeg...

    The number of presumptive COVID-19 cases in Newfoundland and Labrador has risen from one to three, the provincial government confirmed Tuesday.

    The two women and one man believed to be infected are all located in the Labrador-Grenfell provincial health district, said Chief Medical Officer Dr. Janice Fitzgerald, and all are in self-isolation.

    “These new cases are contacts to the previous case and are not unexpected,” she told reporters at an afternoon press conference...

      There are two new presumptive positive cases of COVID-19 in Newfoundland and Labrador, provincial Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Janice Fitzgerald announced Saturday.

      That brings the total number of cases in the province to six — three confirmed in the Labrador-Grenfell Health region, two within Eastern Health and the first case in the Central Health region. Contact tracing is ongoing in the two new cases.

      Fitzgerald said 901 people have been tested for the disease to date, with 895 confirmed negative cases. 332 people are in isolation. She added the new presumptive cases are not unexpected...

        Dr. Janice Fitzgerald announced three new cases of COVID-19 in Newfoundland and Labrador Sunday.

        All three new cases are in the Eastern Health region. Two of the cases are related to international travel.

        That brings the total number of cases in the province to nine, with five cases presumed positive in the last two days.

        970 people have now been tested in the province, with 961 of those cases being negative.

        Caul's Funeral Home is asking those who attended two events at their LeMarchant Drive location in St. John's to self-isolate...

          Newfoundland and Labrador has 11 new presumptive cases in the last 24 hours, says the province's chief medical officer of health.

          The total number of presumptive and confirmed cases is now 35.

          The 11 new cases are all within the Eastern Health region of Newfoundland.

          Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Janice Fitzgerald is ordering further closures of all private health clinics, with the exception of physicians and nurse practitioners. Clinicians can reopen for emergencies.

            TORONTO -- More than 30 new presumptive positive cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in Newfoundland and Labrador, with many of them believed to be connected to the same funeral home.

                The number jumped by another 20 cases since yesterday, bringing the total to 102. All but one of the cases are being managed in self-isolation at home...

                      The patient — a retired man in the Eastern Health region — died Sunday, about three days after being hospitalized. Sources tell CBC News his condition deteriorated quickly.

                      His death comes 16 days after the province recorded its first case of COVID-19.

                      In the last week, cases escalated. As of the numbers reported Sunday, 135 people had been infected, and seven people had been hospitalized...
