254 coronavirus patients in Belarusian hospitals
MINSK, 2 April (BelTA) – A total of 254 positive coronavirus patients are currently treated in Belarusian hospitals, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry.
“The number of COVID-19 cases in Belarus has been growing. Most cases are first- and second-level contacts that were traced earlier,” the press service noted.
At present, 254 people who tested positive for the coronavirus are receiving treatment. The majority of them are displaying mild or moderate symptoms. Eleven patients require assisted ventilation. Belarusian medics held conciliar featuring the country's leading specialists in infectious diseases and intensivists. They described the condition of these patients as stable. Belarus registered four deaths among elderly patients who suffered from multiple chronic diseases that were exacerbated by the coronavirus infection, according to preliminary data.
So far, 46 patients have recovered and have been discharged from the hospital.
A total of 9,299 people are under medical supervision as first- and second level contacts, 1,943 of them are hospitalized.
In order to detect all COVID-19 cases, Belarus started to test not only patients with severe pneumonia, but also those with a moderate form of the disease. In addition to a smear test, samples are collected from the lower respiratory tract, which increases the accuracy of the diagnosis....
At present, Belarus disposes more than 11,000 coronavirus tests from Belarusian and foreign manufacturers. There are nine working laboratories, three more can go operational if needed...
Minsk has rejected the concern voiced by Lithuania that alleged inadequate reaction to the spread of COVID-19 in Belarus could turn the country into a hotspot, which endangers Lithuania, LRT reports.
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda said on Wednesday, April 1: ?It’s quite possible that the true figures are much worse as we know about certain outbreaks in the Belarusian territory and registered deaths?.
By the evening of Thursday, April 2, Belarus has reported 254 cases of COVID-19 and four deaths. Corresponding figures in Lithuania are more than twice as high, despite a population only a third of Belarus’.
The Belarusian Foreign Ministry’s representative Anatoly Gaz criticised Lithuania’s statements, calling on Vilnius not to spread ?speculations and rumours”.
Belarusian President Lukashenko also said as quoted by BelTA and LRT on Thursday that his country could fight the virus more effectively than Lithuania, and told President Nausėda to ?take care of your own virus?.

MINSK, April 5 (Xinhua) -- The Belarusian Health Ministry said Sunday that COVID-19 cases had risen to 562 in the country, up about 28 percent from the previous day.
So far, 502 people who tested positive for the coronavirus have been receiving medical treatment, the ministry said. Most patients have mild or moderate symptoms of the disease.
The ministry said 52 people have been discharged from hospital and confirmed eight deaths from the pandemic.

In Belarus, where eight deaths of coronavirus patients were reported on Sunday, the death toll has increased to 13 on Monday, April 6, according to the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Republic.
The number of laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 infection has also increased dramatically, reaching 700 people. On the eve of the Ministry of Health announced 502 infected with COVID-19.
The department said that at present 634 people are undergoing inpatient treatment, with another 53 patients recovering. Most infected people have the disease in mild or moderate form.
