    Fourth coronavirus case confirmed for Tasmania

    A woman in her 40s has been confirmed as the fourth person with coronavirus in Tasmania and the second in the north of the state.

    She is currently in isolation in accommodation provided by the University of Tasmania at its Newnham campus in Launceston...

              Across the world, there have been more than 154,480 confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) and more than 5,700 reported deaths.

              Since the beginning of the outbreak, the majority of cases and deaths associated with COVID-19 have been reported from mainland China.

              Mainland China continues to show a steady decline in the report of new cases with relatively few new cases.

              There have been more than 73,600 cases, including approximately 2,529 deaths, reported from 138 countries and regions outside mainland China.

              The majority of deaths outside mainland China have been in Italy and Iran.

              The Republic of Korea appears to have reached a peak in its epidemic at the end of February, with daily cases steadily declining.

              The Islamic Republic of Iran, Italy, the United States and several other countries in Europe continue to report large increases in cases.

              Of confirmed cases reported globally, the case fatality rate is approximately 3.8%.

                Two more COVID-19 deaths confirmed in NSW

                NSW Health has confirmed the deaths of two more people from coronavirus, bringing Australia's total death toll to five.
                A 90-year-old woman died on Saturday with testing confirming she had COVID-19, NSW Health said in a statement on Sunday night.
                She was a resident of the Dorothy Henderson Lodge aged care home where two other residents have died after becoming infected with the virus.
                A 77-year-old woman has also died from coronavirus, the department said on Sunday.
                The woman flew from Brisbane to Sydney on Friday, a Queensland Health spokesman told AAP...
                ...It comes as the number of coronavirus cases in NSW jumped by 22 over the 24 hours to 11am on Sunday, taking the total number of infected people in the state to 134.

                            The number of coronavirus cases in NSW with no known transmission source have increased, as major events are cancelled and Premier Gladys Berejiklian implores schools to remain open.

                            NSW COVID-19 cases jumped to almost 270 on Wednesday as a fifth person in the state was revealed to have died, taking the national toll to six.

                            NSW Health says an 86-year-old man previously confirmed to have COVID-19 died on Tuesday night in a Sydney hospital.

                            Chief health officer Kerry Chant on Wednesday said there were 267 confirmed coronavirus cases in NSW up from 210. More than 25,000 tests have been conducted...
