Second Queensland coronavirus case confirmed: 42-year-old woman in Gold Coast Hospital

    jan 30, 2020

ONE more member of a Chinese tour group has tested positive to the new coronavirus, taking the number of confirmed cases in Queensland to two.

The 42-year-old woman from Wuhan, the epicentre of a novel coronavirus outbreak, was travelling as part of a group of nine, including the state’s first case – a man aged 44.

Her positive test takes the number of confirmed cases in Australia to 10, with four each in NSW and Victoria.

The latest Queensland case is under quarantine at the Gold Coast University Hospital, where the other eight members of her tour group are also in isolation. Her condition is listed as stable.

Health authorities are working to contact dozens of travellers who shared a plane with the group into the Gold Coast from Melbourne at 8.45pm on Monday.

Two coronavirus patients released from Sydney hospital after recovering from infection

      jan 30, 2020

Two of the four NSW coronavirus patients have recovered from the potentially lethal infection and have been discharged from hospital, according to health authorities. NSW chief health officer Doctor Kerry Chant said the men were no longer infectious and had been released.

"As an added precaution we have undertaken testing to confirm there is no virus detectable in samples taken from those individuals.

"They acquired the virus, they got better, and now they're not infectious."

Two men in New South Wales previously detected with coronavirus have recovered from the potentially lethal infection, health authorities say.

        febr 1, 2020

Two people visiting South Australia have tested positive to coronavirus, amid the deadly global outbreak of the disease.

The couple in their 60s are said to have left Wuhan last month and are visiting relatives in the state.

25 people have been tested for coronavirus in SA with these two people the first to come back as positive.

Health authorities say the couple have followed all procedures they’ve been asked to through SA’s communicable diseases branch.

The man and woman are now in the process of being admitted to a public hospital.

Australia bans foreign arrivals from China amid coronavirus fears

          febr 1, 2020

Australia will deny entry to any foreign travellers who have passed through China to try and contain the spread of the deadly coronavirus.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced the new policy on Saturday, saying Australian citizens, permanent residents and their immediate family, legal guardians or spouses will be exceptions to the rule, reports The Guardian.

Australian citizens arriving from China will be quarantined for two weeks.

The decision to ban travellers from entering the country mimics that of the US.

Fourth coronavirus case confirmed in Victoria

            febr 1, 2020

A woman in her 20s has become Victoria’s fourth confirmed case of novel coronavirus.

Six days after returning from Wuhan, the epicentre of the coronavirus outbreak, the woman was last night confirmed as having the illness and isolated in her Melbourne home.

Victoria’s Chief Health Officer Dr Brett Sutton issued an alert outlining the latest confirmed coronavirus case this morning, stating it was not believed the woman had posed any risk of spreading the virus since flying into Melbourne on January 25.

Because the woman only became unwell while at home on January 27 - two days after her flight - health authorities do not believe she was infectious while travelling.
