Afghanistan reported 60 more coronavirus cases on Saturday, its lowest daily count over the past three months.
However, the figure came on a day when, according to the Health Ministry, just 194 tests were conducted across the country.
The percentage of positive cases detected over the past 24 hours indicates the COVID-19 pandemic is still a grave threat in Afghanistan, where total cases are now up to 35,289, including 1,164 deaths.
Recoveries in the country have increased to 23,280, leaving the number of active cases at 10,845, according to the ministry’s data.
The capital Kabul remains the hardest hit area, accounting for 55 of the new infections and 17 fatalities...
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Health has purchased 500 artificial respiration devices from Germany and started the process of distributing them to all provinces.
Jawad Osmani added: “Today, these ventilators with their supplements are distributed in 9 provinces of the country. How to use them is simple and doctors have been trained.”
Afghanistan had 300 ventilators before producing these 500 ventilators, but there are concerns that doctors are unaware of these devices and that they are inactive in many provinces of the country.

The total number of infections has now reached 35,727. Kabul, Herat, Balkh, Kandahar, and Paktia have the highest number of infections.

At the same time, 4 patients having coronavirus died. The total number of covid-19 deaths soared to 1,190 in the country.
