Country's total reaches 385, including 6 deaths and 99 patients released

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan confirmed three new Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) cases Saturday (April 11), bringing the total for the country up to 385, including six deaths and 99 patients who have returned home after treatment.

All three of the new cases were imported, with not a single local transmission, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced at its daily news conference. The patients are two elderly men and one young woman.

Case No. 383 is a man in his 60s who was working in the United States long-term. His infection was discovered through testing at the airport once he arrived in Taiwan, but he had begun feeling unwell on March 31 and sought medical care in the U.S.

Patient No. 384 is a man in his 70s who had been living in the U.S. who developed a cough on April 4, the CECC said. Both men arrived in Taiwan on April 10.

A woman in her 20s who had been studying in France is No. 385. She entered Taiwan on April 3 and showed coronavirus symptoms the following day while undergoing home isolation. After she developed a fever on April 7, she tested positive for the virus.

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan's Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) on Sunday (April 12) announced three more cases of Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the country's total to 388.

During his daily press conference Sunday afternoon, Health Minister and CECC head Chen Shih-chung (陳時中) announced that two men and one woman had been confirmed with COVID-19. Of the three, two are imported cases, while one is a local infection.

Chen said that the single domestic case (No. 386) is a man in his 20s who lives with an imported case (No. 195) and had been placed under home quarantine after the latter was diagnosed with the disease. He said the authorities are still determining who has recently come into contact with the individual.

Patient No. 387 is a man in his 40s who had traveled to the U.S. on Feb. 20 for business, the CECC said. He developed a cough and sore throat on March 25 while still overseas, but he did inform the medical staff at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport of his symptoms upon returning to Taiwan on April 10.

Patient No. 388 is the spouse of No. 358, and she had traveled to the U.K. with her husband to visit their relatives on January 13. After returning to Taiwan on April 2, she noticed that she had lost her ability to smell or taste and decided to seek help from the CECC on April 3.

As of Sunday, Taiwan has recorded 388 COVID-19 cases, including six deaths.
