Colombia reports eighth human death from influenza

Bogot?, 17 Jul (Notimex) .- A child who suffered from Down syndrome became the eighth human death from influenza in Colombia, while 202 were confirmed cases of people infected with the virus, revealed today the Ministry of Social Protection.
In a communique, the agency said that the smaller, eight years old, died in the Colombian capital on July 13 after two of hospitalization for respiratory problems predominance of bronchial obstruction.
After passing the tests were made according to the protocols for doctors and this was confirmed Friday that it was a case of human influenza virus, so the family was put under medical surveillance.
This is the second child to die from the disease in Colombia. Six adults have died since last June 4 by that evil.
Moreover, the Ministry confirmed 11 more cases of infection, nine of them in the capital Bogota, which was raised to 202 the number of people affected by human influenza throughout the country.
The national monitoring committee reported that so far there are four thousand 340 alerts of possible symptoms, of which 883 thousand are suspects, 72 are probable cases and 202 confirmed cases including eight deaths.
